Aiming for Inclusivity in Hospitality
“Participating in events like PHTTE allows us to better serve our Muslim guests while showcasing our commitment to inclusivity,” stated Cleofe Albiso, MHR managing director. This initiative is intricately woven into MHR’s Sampaguita brand of service and its identity as a leading Filipino hospitality provider. By championing Muslim tourism, MHR intends to create an accommodating environment for diverse visitors.
PHTTE 2025 Overview
This year, PHTTE is themed "Showcasing diverse Halal, Halal-ready, and friendly markets of all regions to the international arena." The expo serves as a platform to promote Halal-certified products, services, and experiences across the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). This initiative not only emphasizes the importance of Halal tourism but also aims to connect various stakeholders in the hospitality sector.
Boost in Muslim-Friendly Tourism
Following a memorandum of understanding signed at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai in May 2024, MHR has been proactive in addressing the rising demand for Muslim-friendly accommodations. Data indicates a remarkable 40% increase in Muslim stays and a 58% surge in revenue during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the previous year. This growth is notably driven by markets in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, showcasing MHR’s successful marketing outreach.
Certification and Assurance
MHR stands out as the first and largest hotel chain in the Philippines to receive certification from the Department of Tourism as 100% Muslim-friendly across all 13 of its properties. Furthermore, several MHR hotel kitchens have been Halal-certified by the Halal International Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines (HICCIP), ensuring that meals served comply with Muslim dietary requirements.
MHR’s Ongoing Commitment to Excellence
By participating in events such as the PHTTE and focusing on enhancing the guest experience for Muslim travelers, MHR demonstrates a proactive approach to hospitality. With a keen understanding of cultural sensitivities, MHR aims to build bridges across communities while promoting tourism in the Philippines.
