IHG Hotels & Resorts has made significant strides in expanding its presence in India with its latest franchise agreement for the Garner hotel in Kutch, Gujarat. This marks the third Garner hotel to be announced in India shortly after the brand’s launch in the IMEA region. The hotel is expected to welcome guests by early 2026, highlighting IHG’s strategic focus on tapping into fast-growing secondary and tertiary markets.
Midscale Comfort for Every Traveler
Garner is IHG’s newest midscale conversion brand, specifically designed for value-conscious travelers who prioritize comfort and convenience. The brand captures a casual yet locally inspired ambiance, ensuring that guests feel connected to their surroundings. This initiative aligns seamlessly with IHG’s broader objective to capitalize on India’s burgeoning midscale segment.
The upcoming hotel in Kutch will feature 40 well-appointed rooms and a variety of amenities, including an all-day dining venue, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a spa, and meeting spaces. The property will be operated by Royal Buildspace LLP, with Rosastays managing it—this collaboration is pivotal as Rosastays also oversees other upcoming Garner properties in Etawah and Kathua, set to open in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
Strengthening Presence in High-Potential Markets
In an official statement, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for Southwest Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, remarked, “Together with Rosastays, we’re unlocking India’s underserved markets, where demand for trusted brands is accelerating.” This clearly shows IHG’s keen understanding of market dynamics and their commitment to meeting the needs of Indian travelers.
Deepak Chandnani, a Partner at Royal Buildspace LLP, echoed this sentiment by stating, “Garner’s owner-centric model and distinctly different character combined with IHG’s global expertise make it the ideal choice for the market in Kutch. We are proud to bring this innovative offering to a market poised for long-term hospitality growth.” This partnership signifies a thoughtful approach to hotel management, emphasizing localized insights to enhance guest experiences.
Currently, IHG operates 50 hotels across India, representing six diverse brands, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts®, Crowne Plaza®, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort®, and Holiday Inn Express®. Furthermore, the company boasts a strong pipeline with 63 additional properties anticipated to open over the next three to five years, promising exciting growth in the hospitality sector.
