Review of the Four Seasons Resort and Residences in Napa Valley

Discovering Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley: A Luxurious Wine Country Escape

Set amidst the rolling hills and picturesque vineyards of Calistoga, the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley offers a unique blend of luxury, comfort, and a strong connection to the winemaking heritage of Napa Valley. Opened in 2021, this exquisite destination features a Michelin-starred restaurant, its very own winery, a rejuvenating spa, and elegant accommodations—all designed to immerse guests in the joys of wine country living.

Location and Atmosphere

Nestled at the northern tip of Napa Valley, the resort boasts an enviable setting among organic vineyards that promote a deep sense of place. Guests will appreciate the peaceful ambiance that sets Calistoga apart from the busier wine regions further south. Here, the historic charm is palpable, with geothermal hot springs and an “old Napa” vibe that beckons visitors to unwind and savor the landscape.

As you explore the area, you’ll find a delightful mix of vineyards, artisan galleries, and local farm stands. However, many guests find it hard to leave the property when breathtaking vineyard views can be found almost anywhere on-site.

Luxurious Accommodations

The Four Seasons Resort features 85 luxurious guest rooms and suites, as well as 20 standalone residences, 11 of which are available for rental. The accommodations are thoughtfully arranged around the vineyards to ensure that the beauty of the surroundings informs every aspect of the guest experience.

Ground-floor rooms embrace a moody, cellar-inspired decor with darker tones and soft lighting, while upper-level accommodations feature bright, airy designs contrasted by peaked ceilings. Standard amenities include gas fireplaces and private furnished terraces, many of which overlook the lush vineyards.

My Accommodations Experience

During my stay, my upper-floor room was a sanctuary of light and comfort. Each morning, I sipped coffee on my terrace while watching vineyard workers tend to the meticulously cared-for vines of Kenefick Ranch Winery. The room came equipped with a wine fridge stocked with local selections, enhancing my connection to the land. I enjoyed leisurely evenings, cocooned in sumptuous bedding, with my deep soaking tub serving as a particularly cozy retreat.

Culinary Excellence

Dining at the Four Seasons is a journey in itself. The resort’s crown jewel, Auro, is the Michelin-starred restaurant that offers a seasonally driven tasting menu complemented by stunning vineyard views. For more casual fare, you can enjoy poolside dining at Campo, or opt for TRUSS Restaurant + Bar, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner items are served throughout the day.

Each dining venue is well-stocked with an impressive list of wines, ensuring that you have the perfect pairing for every meal.

Indulgent Wellness Experiences

Wellness takes center stage at the Spa Talisa, where treatments incorporate Calistoga’s geothermal heritage with balance-restoring mud therapies and detoxifying rituals. You can unwind in atmospheric private patios equipped with misting decks, all while overlooking the vineyards.

The resort also features two large outdoor pools, with a family pool and an adults-only lap pool separated by inviting lounge areas and a bocce ball court. Guests can enjoy ample chaise lounges and cabanas without the early morning scramble for prime seating.

On-Site Winery: Elusa

What truly sets the Four Seasons Resort apart is its unique on-site winery, Elusa. Operated independently but synergistically, Elusa features its own winemaking team and has been crafting wines for over a decade to ensure a well-curated tasting experience upon the resort’s opening. With an annual production of approximately 2,300 cases, the winemaking focuses primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc—varietals that beautifully express Calistoga’s terroir.

Guests can partake in a range of tasting experiences, from introductory flights to in-depth cellar tours and bespoke three-course meals that showcase the winemaker’s artistry.

Elevated Experiences

The resort also offers bespoke options for adventurous souls. One highlight is the Napa Valley Dream Drive, a thrilling opportunity to explore the scenic backroads in a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, or McLaren—a perfect way to experience the valley beyond traditional wine tasting.

Unique Tips for Your Stay

For those looking to add an extra touch of delight to their mornings, seek out the complimentary coffee, tea, and mini muffins set up just off the reception area—it’s a hidden gem! Don’t forget to leverage the resort’s complimentary cruiser bikes for leisurely explorations of the adjacent vineyards and stunning countryside.

With remarkable accommodations, culinary excellence, and unparalleled wellness offerings, the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley seamlessly integrates the best of what Napa has to offer into an immersive and luxurious experience in the heart of wine country.
