Minor Hotels Expands Luxury Presence in Croatia and Slovenia

Minor Hotels is making waves in the luxury hospitality sector with the announcement of two exciting additions to its portfolio: the prestigious Hotel Palace Portorož in Slovenia and the exclusive Adriatic Istria Resort in Croatia. These properties, set to reopen under the Anantara and Minor Reserve Collections in 2027, underscore the brand’s expansion into desirable Mediterranean resort destinations.

Located in the serene Slovenian resort town of Portorož, Hotel Palace Portorož will undergo an extensive refurbishment before making its debut as the Minor Reserve Collection Slovenia in early 2027. With a focus on blending contemporary luxury with the area’s rich wellness heritage, the hotel will feature 183 keys, three restaurants, three bars, a spa, and both indoor and outdoor pools. Guests can look forward to immersing themselves in a landscape that embraces wellness and refined gastronomy, aligning with Slovenia’s emphasis on sustainable tourism.

Adriatic Istria Resort

Meanwhile, the Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort will mark Minor Hotels’ first foray into Croatia, nestled in Savudrija on the stunning Istrian peninsula. This 186-key property will soon feature a diverse culinary landscape across three restaurants and four bars, alongside a dedicated area for meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE). This offering caters to a growing demand for high-end corporate retreats and elegant wedding venues, making it a highly sought-after destination in the region.

Both hotels were previously operated by Kempinski Hotels under a management agreement with MK Group, paving the way for significant enhancements and modernizations. The refurbishment of these properties will introduce the hallmark experiences associated with Anantara, renowned for its blend of heartfelt hospitality and immersive luxury. Guests can expect cultural experiences steeped in Istrian heritage, complemented by activities inspired by the abundant natural beauty of the region.

The decision to grow Minor Hotels’ footprint in Central and Southeastern Europe is fueled by a burgeoning tourism sector and a rising demand for distinct luxury experiences. Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, elaborated on this strategy, emphasizing the dual focus on authenticity and sophistication that guests are increasingly seeking.

Highlighting the significance of this expansion, Mihailo Jankovic, CEO of MK Group, noted that the introduction of these luxury brands represents a transformative step in the regional tourism landscape. Guests are sure to appreciate the commitment to providing sophisticated, authentic experiences, particularly in the realms of wellness and vitality.

Accessibility is a vital aspect of these new offerings, with excellent connections to Trieste Airport in Italy, Portorož Airport in Slovenia, and Pula and Rijeka Airports in Croatia. With their premium locations, both properties promise to cater to travelers seeking not only luxury accommodations but also rich cultural and natural experiences amid the breathtaking Adriatic backdrop.
