Denton County Transportation Authority Introduces Day Pass for Hassle-Free Travel to the Texas State Fair

Convenient Travel to the Texas State Fair with DCTA

As the Texas State Fair approaches this fall, the excitement in the air is palpable. One of the most affordable and hassle-free ways to reach the iconic fairgrounds is through a special regional day pass offered by the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA). This package not only covers transportation but also grants entry to the fair for just $25.

Stress-Free Travel Experience

“It’s the easiest way to get to the State Fair, and you don’t have to stress about the traffic or the parking,” explains David Magaña, DCTA’s director of marketing and communications. For families, groups of friends, and individuals alike, relying on public transit helps eliminate the usual anxiety associated with finding parking in crowded lots.

How the DCTA Package Works

The Texas State Fair runs from September 29 to October 22, and the DCTA’s package deal will be available for purchase from September 15 to October 15. Fairgoers can kick off their journey by boarding the A-train at any of its five convenient stops:

  1. Downtown Denton Transit Center
  2. MedPark Station
  3. Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station
  4. Old Town Station
  5. Hebron Station

After a pleasant ride on the A-train, passengers will transfer to the DART Green Line light rail at the Trinity Mills Station, which takes them directly to the front gate of the fair.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people who may not often venture into Dallas. It introduces them to what DCTA has to offer,” Magaña mentions, highlighting the chance for riders to explore new routes and services.

Where to Secure Your Tickets

There are two primary ways to purchase the DCTA’s regional day pass:

  1. Online Purchase: Visitors can buy their tickets through the DCTA website. Once purchased, tickets will be mailed within three to five days. Fairgoers are encouraged to order early to ensure timely arrival.

  2. In-Person Purchase: For those who prefer face-to-face transactions, tickets can be acquired at the downtown Denton Transit Center located on Hickory Street.

Benefits of Using DCTA

Beyond the convenience and cost-effectiveness, using DCTA promotes environmental sustainability. By taking cars off the road, the service aims to reduce traffic congestion, lower pollution levels, and decrease gasoline consumption.

“Taking cars off the road is part of what we’re about,” Magaña emphasizes. This environmentally friendly approach aligns with DCTA’s mission to serve the community by enhancing public transit options.

Perfect for Families

DCTA strives to make the journey as enjoyable as possible, especially for families heading to the fair. The train rides provide an opportunity to relax and enjoy time together. “We’re just going to let you enjoy the ride and be with your family as you head down there,” Magaña adds. The DCTA’s services create a peaceful environment, making it easier to savor the anticipation of a fun-filled day.

Accessibility and Parking Info

DCTA is committed to inclusivity and accessibility. All train platforms are equipped with ramps and spaces for wheelchairs, ensuring everyone can travel to the fair smoothly. For passengers who wish to drive to a DCTA station before boarding, Magaña suggests utilizing the MedPark Station, which offers ample parking, making it a hassle-free experience.

Explore Dallas Along the Way

While the primary goal is to provide a seamless ride to the State Fair, passengers have the added benefit of exploring the vibrant Dallas area. “We just want people to see the benefit of public transit and the advantage of letting someone else do the driving,” Magaña affirms.

For those ready to embrace a stress-free travel experience to the Texas State Fair, the DCTA website offers everything you need to plan your trip effectively. The journey is not just about getting to the fair; it’s about enjoying each step along the way.
